Chapter 11 response

One traditional form of visual aid is print materials.  A good use of this is if u have notes or something important for students, because they can take a copy of the print material to bring home and study.  An emerging technology for visual aids is document cameras.  These could be useful if you have an old document that you want to project for the class.  The camera is good because it can project the document without doing and damage to it.  A traditional audio aid is a audiocassettes this can be used to give to students so they can listen to a book they need to read at anytime like in the car or while they workout etc.  Internet audio is very useful technological audio aid.  you could download important historic speeches easily and let the class listen to them during class.

Chapter 6 response question

After reading all the technologies i decide that i would rather teach in a classroom with less technologies.  Although after reading about the several technologies i determined that they could be very helpful, but they all seem to have two problems, they are hard to use and very expensive.  I myself am not too technological savvy and it would be hard to learn how to use all the technologies.  Although i believe i can it would be hard to teach all my students how to use them too.  Involving the students is very important and valuable class time would be wasted teaching kids how to use technologies rather than teaching them the subject.  Technologies are also very expensive and i think schools could use that money on other stuff like extracurricular activities that many schools are having to cut due to failed levies.  Also with too many new technologies can cause a teacher to become dependent upon them.  Many times technologies fail to work and in then the teacher is left with no lessen for the day.  Although there are tremendous benefits. the downside is too much for me to prefer alot of technologies.

behaviorist perspective

One of my favorite teachers in high school was Mr. Pira.  He used the behaviorist perspective alot when he taught. One example of this is to review for tests we would play jeopardy.  He would split the class into teams and then ask each team different questions. Whenever a team would answer a question right he would praise them.  If you answered wrong he would not yell but you could just sense that he was disappointed which was even worse because no one wanted to let him down.  Which ever team won the game he would reward with bonus points for the test or candy bars.  Everyone always strived to impress him and worker hard in his class.  When I get to teach a class of my own it is very likely that will imply similar strategies to achieve maximum participation from my class. The whole class would would be eager to participate during his jeopardy games in hope for his verbal praise or his reward of bonus points.  If using rewards will maximize class participation then
I will be sure to be a behaviorist perspective teacher.
